About Lincoln County Criminal History

Lincoln County records do not come from one office. Court files remain with the Circuit or Magistrate Clerk in Hamlin, arrest narratives stay with the agency that wrote them, booking information comes from the regional jail system, and official fingerprint histories run through the West Virginia State Police. This private resource organizes those separate paths so readers can identify the right public office, official portal, address, or telephone number before making a request.

Why We Built This Site

Lincoln County's records trail spans the courthouse in Hamlin, Western Regional Jail in Barboursville, and statewide systems. A magistrate index can reveal a complaint or preliminary felony matter, but the documents come from the clerk. An indicted felony file belongs with the Lincoln County Circuit Clerk. The West Virginia State Police Criminal Identification Bureau controls repository histories, while the West Virginia Sex Offender Registry serves a different public-safety purpose. Federal matters form another layer: the official task-force roster places Lincoln in two federal task-force footprints, and a 2025 federal case announcement shows why county conduct may produce a federal file. Bringing verified routes and plain explanations together makes it easier to choose the correct custodian without implying that one search produces a complete record.

What You Will Find Here

The material focuses on official access routes and the differences among records.

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference site with no affiliation to Lincoln County, the State of West Virginia, a court, or a law-enforcement agency. Its role has firm limits:

  • We cannot obtain or run an official criminal-history check for a visitor
  • We cannot issue certified court papers, rap sheets, reports, or registry records
  • We cannot submit a records request or expungement petition for anyone
  • We cannot interpret a charge, warrant, order, or eligibility rule as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an office's contact detail, fee, or procedure has not changed

An official copy must come from its custodian, such as the Lincoln County Circuit Clerk, the arresting agency, WVDCR, or the West Virginia State Police.

Search Partners

Some search boxes connect to services operated by outside providers. Those providers control their own results, terms, and prices. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may produce a referral fee that supports this resource. We do not control the partner's data, charges, or matching process, and partner output is not an official Lincoln County or West Virginia record.
